Change: Replace corrosive attitudes that undermine change

There are many corrosive attitudes that undermine a culture of change. These include:

1. This is the way we do it here;
2. That is good enough; and
3. We fixed it, don’t worry about it.

These attitudes wall off new ideas. They resist learning from others. They ignore change in the world. Replace these corrosive attitudes with positive attitudes that facilitate change.

Terry Gardiner is the founder and President of Silver Lining Seafoods and NorQuest Seafoods - a medium-size Alaska seafood processing company; and currently a Board member of the Anvil Corporation, an employee-owned company specializing in oil and gas engineering.
